Easter Break
The kids have a long weekend because of Easter. Uncle Kieran came over from Vancouver to hang out with us. We did all sorts of things. Basketball games, decorated eggs, hid a carrot for the Easter Bunny, woke up to lots of chocolate and candy on Easter morning and got some new kites from Gramma and Bunka's friends, Stuart and Jean.
Theo went to a friend's house so we headed out to Air Force Beach to fly the kites and watch the Snowbirds. Cohen was an expert in kite flying and I had to choose between watching him and watching the Snowbirds perform their aerial tricks! Both were amazing.
Enjoy the movie about Cohen flying his kite.

Jam Can!
On the weekend Theo took part in a curling weekend. It was called Jam Can. They used coffee can filled with cement instead of the real rocks. The real rocks are way too heavy. There were a lot of kids who took part and Theo made new friends.
What a great opportunity....another Canadian experience!

Spring Birds Arrive
The hummingbirds are back. It's amazing hearing the buzz of their wings and watching them feed. Amazing wee creatures. The last photo is of a crow...of which there are many.

2nd Week of Spring Break
Today it was sunny so we headed up the mountain. We were going tubing where you ride a big inflatable tube down a steep hill. Madeline, Theo, Cohen, Filo and Bunka all went and mum watched and took photos.
It was a lot of fun. The last time we went was 4 years ago and we think the hills were steeper and faster then.
we got to have the famous Beaver Tails. Madeline and Theo had peanut butter and chocolate ones. Cohen had a cookies and cream one. Filo had maple butter on his and I had the original.
They were super yum!
Enjoy the slideshow!

Day 5 - The vancouver Aquarium
On Friday we headed to the aquarium. It was a beautiful sunny day. Madeline was excited to see the beluga whale. Theo wanted to see otters and dolhpins and Cohen wanted to see jelly fish.
They all got to see what they wanted as the aquarium had it all.
We sat in the Splash Zone so...we got splashed by a huge...beluga wave. I liked it. Cohen didn't.
We felt sad for the dolphins as they looked sad. It was still great to get a chance to see all those beautiful creatures!

Day 4 - Museum of Anthropology
Uncle Christopher arrived from Toronto and he took us to MOA. It was a beautiful day and we walked around the museum looking at all the native art and there was even some from Fiji.
We saw totem poles and lots of carvings. The most interesting and sad part was the exhibit on the Residential Schools. It is a very sad and shameful part of our Canadian history but it was good that we saw it and got to talk about it and share our thoughts on what was done to the First Nations(Indians back then) children.
We went outside to see a Haida house and we saw a beautiful blue sky, snow capped mountains, green hills and a bald eagle. The scene could not have been more Canadian if it tried.

Day 3 - BC Place
BC Place is home to football and soccer games but they turned it into a huge indoor theme park for the school holidays.
We loved riding the rides while Mum and Dad watched from below.
Madeline and Theo rode all the big scary ones and Cohen rode on all the medium scary ones and the ones for kids.
They played lots of games and won lots of stuffed animals! LOL!
We had a big walk home over the Cambie Bridge and had an awesome day!
