2nd Week of Spring Break

Today it was sunny so we headed up the mountain. We were going tubing where you ride a big inflatable tube down a steep hill. Madeline, Theo, Cohen, Filo and Bunka all went and mum watched and took photos. It was a lot of fun. The last time we went was 4 years ago and we think the hills were steeper and faster then. we got to have the famous Beaver Tails. Madeline and Theo had peanut butter and chocolate ones. Cohen had a cookies and cream one. Filo had maple butter on his and I had the original. They were super yum! Enjoy the slideshow! Tubing at Mt Washington on PhotoPeach

Day 5 - The vancouver Aquarium

On Friday we headed to the aquarium. It was a beautiful sunny day. Madeline was excited to see the beluga whale. Theo wanted to see otters and dolhpins and Cohen wanted to see jelly fish. They all got to see what they wanted as the aquarium had it all. We sat in the Splash Zone so...we got splashed by a huge...beluga wave. I liked it. Cohen didn't. We felt sad for the dolphins as they looked sad. It was still great to get a chance to see all those beautiful creatures! Day 5 - The Vancouver Aquarium on PhotoPeach

Day 4 - Museum of Anthropology

Uncle Christopher arrived from Toronto and he took us to MOA. It was a beautiful day and we walked around the museum looking at all the native art and there was even some from Fiji.

We saw totem poles and lots of carvings. The most interesting and sad part was the exhibit on the Residential Schools. It is a very sad and shameful part of our Canadian history but it was good that we saw it and got to talk about it and share our thoughts on what was done to the First Nations(Indians back then) children.

We went outside to see a Haida house and we saw a beautiful blue sky, snow capped mountains, green hills and a bald eagle. The scene could not have been more Canadian if it tried.
The bald eagle is the little black dot in the white cloud.

Day 3 - BC Place

BC Place is home to football and soccer games but they turned it into a huge indoor theme park for the school holidays.

We loved riding the rides while Mum and Dad watched from below.

Madeline and Theo rode all the big scary ones and Cohen rode on all the medium scary ones and the ones for kids.

They played lots of games and won lots of stuffed animals! LOL!

We had a big walk home over the Cambie Bridge and had an awesome day!

Theo and lego scuba man.
We are on Spring Break and are over on the mainland in Vancouver. The kids love taking eh water taxis around town. IThey are so low to the water and are small and cute...if a boat can be cute. So far we have visited Granville Island. Theo and Madeline played in the arcade and Cohen went in the bog playground maze. On Tuesday we went to Science world. The kids all had fun exploring all sorts of activities. Cohen loved the lego display -lego everywhere! Madeline liked the animals exhibit and now wants a snake as a pet...not on NZ eh! Theo loved all the strength and endurance activities.

School in Canada

All three kids go to Aspen Park Elementary School. It is a big school and Madeline and Theo both have a locker which makes them feel like they're in high school.

On Friday there was a Leadership Assembly. All the children sang their school song. The parents got to visit the classes and the children got to share their learning.

Theo's class was in music and they were doing drumming. It was really great to see them playing and they have a very energetic teacher who gets them all going.

Madeline's class were doing Rube Goldberg inventions with their younger buddy class. There were a lot of failed experiments but they really cool thing was that the kids were problem solving the whole way along.

We didn't get to see Cohen's class as they had a new teacher start that day, but we see Cohen's classroom everyday. His class is learning all about Dr Seuss books and are having a Green Eggs and Ham day!

The school follows the 7 habits of effective leadership and learning and the principal does a new display every term. It's pretty neat.

Friday March 14th is their last day of school and then they are off for 2 weeks. We used to call it March Break but it's also called Spring Break.

We are heading over to Vancouver to hang out with Uncle Kieran and Uncle Christopher will fly in for a few days as well.

Leave us a comment and feel free to ask questions.
